About LockedIn Letters

LockedIn Letters was created with one purpose: to support dignity, humanity, and meaningful communication between incarcerated individuals and people on the outside.

We believe connection is powerful. A thoughtful letter can brighten someone’s day, encourage reflection, create friendship, and remind a person that meaningful connections can exist despite physical distance. LockedIn Letters was created to make those connections easier to begin and more intentional for everyone involved.

The Story Behind LockedIn Letters

LockedIn Letters began with something deeply personal.

The inspiration behind the platform came from a family member’s experience with incarceration. Through that experience, its founder witnessed how isolating incarceration can be, how complicated communication can become, and how difficult it can be for families to maintain meaningful connections.

That experience revealed something important: connection matters.

A letter, a photograph, a birthday message, or a few encouraging words may seem like small gestures to someone on the outside. But for someone who is incarcerated, those moments can carry extraordinary meaning. They can serve as reminders that they are still loved, still remembered, and still part of a world beyond the walls surrounding them.

LockedIn Letters grew from that experience.

From a desire to make meaningful communication easier to begin. From wanting people on the outside to feel more confident about reaching out. From recognizing that incarcerated individuals deserve opportunities to share their stories, express themselves, and build genuine connections.

LockedIn Letters is more than a business. It is a platform rooted in love, lived experience, and the belief that incarceration should never erase a person’s humanity or their opportunity for meaningful connection.

Why We Created LockedIn Letters

Traditional prison pen-pal websites can feel outdated, confusing, or difficult to navigate. Many people are interested in corresponding with someone who is incarcerated but may not know where to begin, what to say, or how to approach the experience respectfully.

LockedIn Letters gives incarcerated adults a place to introduce themselves in their own voice while giving prospective correspondents clear information and guidance to begin meaningful communication.

Our Mission

Our mission is simple: help people communicate with confidence, respect, and intention.

LockedIn Letters provides structured profiles, conversation resources, thoughtful writing tools, and personalized profile support designed to make correspondence easier to begin and more meaningful to continue.

Participants remain at the center of their profiles. They review and approve their profile information and photographs before publication, and our role is to help present their stories clearly while preserving their individual voices.

Our Vision

Our vision is to build a nationwide community where meaningful connections can reach beyond prison walls, and where incarceration does not define a person’s worth or limit their opportunity to be heard.

We envision LockedIn Letters becoming a trusted destination for prison correspondence, connecting incarcerated adults with people who value genuine friendship, thoughtful communication, and mutual respect.

Through accessible resources, personalized support, and a commitment to dignity and safety, we aspire to make meaningful correspondence easier to begin and sustain.

Our vision is a world where physical separation does not have to mean emotional disconnection, and where every letter offers the possibility of connection, understanding, and hope.

What We Stand For

LockedIn Letters is guided by five core values:

Clarity. Communication should be understandable, transparent, and straightforward.

Compassion. Every interaction should recognize the human being behind the profile or letter.

Consistency. Meaningful connections are strengthened through dependable communication and responsible service.

Safety. Correspondence should begin with informed choices, appropriate boundaries, and respect for everyone involved.

Humanity. Incarceration is part of a person’s circumstances. It does not erase their individuality, interests, goals, personality, or capacity for meaningful connection.

More Than a Profile

LockedIn Letters is more than a directory of profiles. It is a bridge between isolation and community, silence and conversation, and strangers who may discover they have more in common than they expected.

Whether someone is introducing themselves, offering encouragement, discussing shared interests, expressing faith, exchanging ideas, or developing a mature friendship, LockedIn Letters provides tools that help make the first conversation easier.

We believe every person deserves to be treated with dignity.

We believe every voice deserves the opportunity to be heard.

We believe meaningful communication begins when people are willing to see the person beyond the circumstances.

LockedIn Letters is where communication becomes compassion, and compassion becomes change.
